But From Everlasting to Everlasting the Lord's Love is With Those Who Fear Him!

"As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts." Psalm 103:13-18 (NIV)

As we wake up this morning and see the news of the horrible tornado which hit Joplin, MO, our prayers must be with the people of Joplin. There are those there whose hearts are breaking over the loss of family members. There are those there who feel overwhelmed with the devastation the tornado left behind. They are in our prayers.

Yesterday in the Grandmother's Bible I read from Psalm 103:13-18 and am struck with verse 18 - "But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts." God's love is with us and with our children and their children; with those who keep God's covenant and remember to obey Him. We need to be committed to living our lives so our children and grandchildren will know God and choose to walk with Him all their lives. This is the most important thing we will ever do. When we see the news reports of things such as the tornado in Joplin, it helps remind us of what really matters. While the physical devastation of the tornado will take a lot to recover from, buildings can be rebuilt. Trees can be replanted. People can not be replaced. We have one life to live to share God's amazing, everlasting love with our children, grandchildren and the world. This is what really matters.

The prayer for yesterday said, "Thank you, Lord, for Your fatherly love and compassion which lasts for eternity. In You are life and breath and hope. Thank You for Your promise to remain with my children's children. I pray they will love and keep your covenant. Help them to obey You. Amen." Life, breath and hope are found in God. This truth is the thing which is the most important. Share this message of life and hope with your children and grandchildren. Pray for the people of Joplin . . . pray those who do not know God's everlasting love will come to know Him. Pray those who do know Him, will rest in God's everlasting love and find their life, breath and hope in Him.
