grandma's bookshelf - chicken BIG

Don't you just enjoy reading a book with your grandchild(ren) when the book has large, h-u-m-o-n-g-o-u-s words and is full of humor? If so, you - and your grandchild(ren) - are sure to love chicken BIG!

Chicken BigAuthor/Illustrator - Keith Graves
Ages 4-11
Publisher - Chronicle Books

Favorite Features -
  • funny story with excellent use of large, humongous words
  • easy to engage little children in the story by asking questions . . . was the big chicken really a squirrel? Was he really a hippopotamus?
  • funny illustrations fit the story well
  • important lessons about not judging others
This book will have children, parents and grandparents laughing as you "discover" what chicken BIG is! I appreciate how this story is simply "fun" and how it also provides opportunity to talk with children about how each creature is what God created it to be! As you talk and laugh about this story, be sure to take time to talk with your grandchild(ren) about how thankful you are for how God created them to be the unique and amazing person they are! I'll certainly look for future books by this author! Tremendously well done!
