crafting with grandma - Here's an Upside-Down Pyramid Square for Your Afghan!

300 Classic Blocks for Crochet ProjectsIf you are helping your grandchildren learn to crochet, then here is another square for them to make for the afghan for their parents! This square is from the book 300 Classic Blocks for Crochet Projects and makes a great addition to your afghan with it's fun look!


Directions -

  • ch 27
  • Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of the next 4 ch, *ch 1, skip next ch, dc in each of next 5 ch; rep from * across to within last ch, dc in last ch, turn
  • Row 2: ch 3 (counts as dc) dc in first dc *ch 2 skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc ch 2 skip next 2 dc 3 dc in next ch-1 space; rep from * across ending with 2 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn
  • Row 3: ch 3 (counts as dc) dc in next dc *dc in next ch-2 space ch 1 dc in next ch-2 space ** dc in each of next 3 dc rep from * across ending last rep at ** dc in next dc, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch turn
  • Row 4: ch 1 sc in first dc *ch 2 skip next 2 dc 2 dc in next ch-1 space ch 2 skip next 2 dc sc in next dc; rep from * across ending with last sc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn
  • Row 5: ch 3 (counts as dc) *dc in next ch-2 space dc in each of next 3 dc, dc in next ch-2 space ** ch 1 rep from * across ending last rep at ** dc in last sc turn
  • Rep Rows 2-5 until approx 9"
As your grandchildren work on their afghan talk with them about the things happening in their lives. One big way you can make a huge difference in their lives is by showing interest in them and by helping to connect the things which they are doing and which are happening to them with their relationship with God.
