grandma's bookshelf . . . Andi's Circle C Christmas - I'm Giving One Away!

If you are looking for a first chapter book the little girls ages six to eight in your life can read, enjoy and learn from, take a look at the Circle C Beginnings Series by Susan K. Marlow. In these books Andi Carter is a curious young girl growing up on a ranch in the Wild West of the late 1800s. She has many adventures as she learns how to make wise choices and live like Jesus wants her to . . . of course along the way there are unexpected surprises! I appreciate the "New Words" page at the start of the book which explains terms such as "carpetbag", "hankie" and "rose water" so as children read they won't be confused by words they may not be familiar with. I also like the "Peek into the Past" at the end of the book which tells how boys and girls lived in the late 1800s.

I'm delighted to say Kregel Publications sent me an Andi's Circle C Christmas for review, and an additional copy for me to give away! In this story Andi is excited about Christmas . . . until a grumpy, bossy visitor arrives and she has to act "like a little lady" - which of course is not what she wants to do! Andi ends up having an opportunity to help and in so doing shows her grumpy visitor, and herself, what loving others is really all about!
