I'm Giving Away one Girl for All Time Doll!

In the United States, American Girl dolls are a big hit with girls who love dolls and in England there is a new series of dolls which are comparable to the American Girl Dolls! A Girl For All Time Dolls takes girls through the history of England by following one family tree . . . beginning with Matilda Marchmount. The designer and creator of these dolls said, "I was inspired to create A Girl for All Time® – a world of of beautifully designed dolls, with novels and keepsake books, where girls 6+ can explore and enjoy a host of challenging and creative activities. Here, they are inspired by fabulous fashions, original games and stories; they can explore the meaning of friendships and family; they can make favourite recipes; even create their own family tree - with friends, with family, or on their own. Each character in the A Girl for All Time® family, all descended from the first doll, Matilda, features in a series of novels set in different eras of the most exciting times in English history. The novels encourage girls to explore the past, while the keepsake books bring the character’s world to life with themed activities and adventures."

Matilda is a thirteen year old girl who lives in Tudor times - during the time of King Henry the VIII. She finds herself being sent to live in the palace as a Lady in Waiting for her cousin, Katherine Howard - Matilda has the job of trying to get the King to make Katherine his next wife. Girls who read Matilda's story will learn about history, palace intrigue, recipes, fashion and life in Tudor times England.

The doll is quite a lovely doll . . . certainly heirloom quality, as the American Girl Dolls are. Matilda comes wearing a lovely grey velvet gown, period underwear and petticoat, court shoes, key necklace and headdress. She is 16" tall with articulated elbows and knees. Since the Girl for All Times dolls are available in the US, girls are sure to fall in love with Matilda!

I will be writing about this doll throughout the summer and then on September 1, 2012 I will have a drawing for one Matilda, Girl for All Time doll! You can be entered in this special drawing by first of all, "liking" grandma's cookie jar using the tab in the "find us on facebook" box ON THE BLOG. (You only have to do this one time - if you have already done so, you are entered in the drawing!) In addition, if you "share" my daily posts, you will receive an additional entry each time you "share"! (Please comment to let me know when you "share" so I can give you your additional entry)

I believe the Girl For All Time Dolls will catch on here in the United States - they are lovely dolls and the give American girls an opportunity to learn about what life was like for girls in England - throughout time!
