Matilda - A Girl for All Time - I'm Giving One Away!

With the Olympics going on we have all been able to "visit" England, so I thought I'd talk today about the Matilda, A Girl for All Time doll which I'm giving away in just 26 days! The A Girl for All Time dolls are the English "counterpoint" for American Girl dolls, and are just as beautiful with great attention given to detail and quality with the unique difference in the A Girl for All Time dolls follow one family through English history. As they say, "Each of our beautifully crafted dolls are part of a maternal family tree of Marchmont women, and each of them lives in a dramatic time in English history. Each tells her own thrilling story through accompanying novels, which are brought to life in customizable Keepsake Books, yours to keep and treasure forever."

Matilda is the first doll in this series and in the family line. "Matilda is made from high quality, durable vinyl and is 16-inches tall with articulated elbows and knees. This deluxe doll comes dressed in an historically inspired costume of luxurious grey velvet with a plum kirtle, period underwear and petticoat. Court shoes, key necklace and headdress included."

As girls enjoy this beautiful doll, they will also have the opportunity to learn about English history - in the case of Matilda, they will learn about Tudor times when Henry VIII was king. For example, "In Tudor times, lots of girls had to make medicines for their families. Matilda used ingredients like fish eyes, rabbits’ wee, frogs, and pig’s fat. Burnt feathers were thought good for sore throats…. and ground-up hare’s brain for tooth-ache!" And, "Henry VIII was grossly fat. And really greedy. Matilda couldn’t believe how lavish the food was at court. He loved roast peacock served in its plumage. Roast swan was another favourite, with smaller birds cooked whole and stuffed inside each other: sparrow inside lark, inside chicken, inside duck, inside goose, inside swan!"
