I'm Giving Away an American Girl Doll - Caroline Abbott!

Yes, just in case you missed it - or forgot :-) - in just a month and a half, on November 30, 2012 I'm giving away one of the new  American Girl Dolls, Caroline Abbott! This doll is truly lovely! Caroline has long, blond curls, light-blue eyes and is dressed in a pretty pink dress with tucks and ribbon . . . American Girl has absolutely paid attention to the details and design of Caroline and not only will she certainly be a loved "friend" to whatever girl receives her, but she is a doll of "heirloom quality" and after she is tucked away, she will one day most surely delight a daughter or granddaughter in the years to come!

If you are like me, you probably had a favorite doll growing up. There are several dolls I had as I grew up which I remember as my "favorites". When I was a little girl, my family tended to take our vacations in the Smokey Mountains. One year I bought an Upside-Down doll while on vacation . . . it was my most interesting doll! What could be better than a two-in-one doll?!!! I loved my Upside-Down doll!

Dolls are a fun and important part of childhood. They give young girls the opportunity to role-play being a mommy and dolls encourage nurturing, imagination and fun! Did you ever make a doll for your daughter or granddaughter? I made an upside-down doll for my daughter about twenty years ago, and said I'd post photos of it . . . so here are the photos! This doll is a bunny - one side she is sleeping and the other side she is awake.

But my favorite doll was the "Kissy Baby Doll" (from the 1960's) . . . when you pressed her tummy, her arms came together and she "kissed". She had short reddish brown hair and a soft body with vinyl arms, legs and head. My little Kissy baby was a wonderful doll and I enjoyed many hours playing with her! (She is the smaller doll on the left in the photo) What was your favorite doll?

I want to remind you about a contest American Girl is holding . . . "Have you ever had to be brave? Enter this contest by creating a video clip (up to 60 seconds) about a time you felt like an everyday hero. You can tell a story, re-create a moment, or even act out the scene with your doll. Ask your parent to upload your video here by October 31 for your chance to win. Then come back November 5 to vote for one of the six finalists and help choose the winner of their grand prize, which includes a trip for four to Washington, D.C.; and extra-special day at the American Girl store; a Caroline doll, books and accessories set; plus a VIP tour fo the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History to learn more about life in Caroline's day."

As I said, American Girl sent Caroline for me to review and give away (USA only)! If you would like to be included in this give-away - which will be on November 30, 2012 - please comment below to let me know if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email. For each of these which you have done you will receive one entry. In addition, if you "share" this post, you'll receive an additional entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win this doll and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know!  (You'll be able to receive additional entries each time I post about her!)

  18. I posted that I followed you on GFC, FB & email and that I shared on G+ (https://plus.google.com/u/0/104770089084644335450/posts/9k1QgYeRTAm) on another post. Dolls are certainly to be treasured. I found my daughter an original Gerber baby in the box for her 4th birthday, she loves that doll- but I especially do, since I had one when I was small that burned in a fire. Great giveaway. Not sure how the extra entries count.
