grandma's cookbook - DIY Microwave Popcorn!

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE popcorn? I am a HUGE fan of white popcorn - or red or blue - with butter and salt on top . . . and stirred through it! :-) I'm happy to say this love for popcorn is shared by my wonderful husband, passed on to our children and now to our grandchildren as well! One of Josiah and Caleb's favorite things to do when they are at our house is to snuggle up with Poppa when they are watching a movie or Kipper or Curious George and a big bowl of popcorn! One day when they were getting read to watch something, Josiah smiled at me and said, "Hmmm. I wonder how long it will be before I smell popcorn?!!!" :-) In case you are wondering, it wasn't very long at all!

While I love popcorn, I have struggled to find a great way to fix it. I've tried hot air poppers . . . and they are okay, but leave the popcorn a bit "chewy". I've tried the old-style popper where you plug it in the wall, add a bit of oil and watch as it pops. This popcorn usually turns out pretty good. I've tried microwave poppers - some have definitely worked better than others.

I have tried microwave popcorn, but always have felt uncomfortable wondering what all was in those little bags with the popcorn. This, however; is no longer the case! As I browsed on Pinterest this morning I found the directions for making my own microwave popcorn! I can assure you paper lunch bags are absolutely on my shopping list and I plan to get them before the boys are here this weekend for a sleep-over! I love how easy this looks - and how I will absolutely be able to know what is in the bag . . . just popcorn!

Follow this link and you will find the simple directions for making your own microwave popcorn and get ready to snuggle up with your grandchildren, a movie and a big bowl of popcorn! Enjoy!
