grandma's bookshelf - Open Very Carefully: A Book With Bite - I'm Giving One Away!

If you have been reading grandma's cookie jar, it doesn't take very long to notice I review - and give away - a LOT of children's books! In a year's time I review books which are nice, books which are excellent and once in awhile, books which make it to my personal "best children's books must-have" "list". The book I'm about to share with you is one of the latter . . . it is such a fun, unexpected, creative and flat out funny book! I laughed, literally out loud, when I read it and then had to read it to my husband - he laughed out loud, too!

I am absolutely delighted to let you know about Open Very Carefully: A Book with Bite . . . and thrilled to say I will be giving one away! But first, my review . . .

Open Very Carefully: A Book with Bite
Author - Nick Bromley
Illustrator - Nicola O'Byrne
Publisher - Nosy Crow
Ages - in my opinion - EVERYONE!!! :-)

Favorite Features -
  • EVERYTHING!!!!
Well, okay, I'll be more specific :-) - Favorite Features -
  • Fun story written with generous amounts of humor!!! Even dad will love this book!
  • Wonderful, colorful and funny illustrations
  • Love the "cut-outs"
  • Unexpected story with clever twists!
  • LOVE the tutu!!
As Nosy Crow says, "What would you do if you were settling down for a quiet bedtime story and you realized a crocodile had fallen out of one story and into yours and was – not to put too fine a point on it – furious? Would you slam the book shut, cram it in the bookshelf for evermore or would you be brave enough to peek? This crocodile has ended up in totally the wrong book, so he proceeds to eat his way out in this fantastic debut picture book of a very grumpy croc as he tries to escape a storybook which is all wrong for him but is great fun for the reader!" Saying it is "great fun for the reader" is putting it very mildly! It is hilarious, laugh-out-loud fun for sure!

I love the opportunities to engage children as you read Open Very Carefully: A Book with Bite - like when you get them to rock and shake the book to see if they can get the croc out of it!!! How fun!

Get ready to laugh - a LOT - as you enjoy this book with your grandchildren and take time to talk with them about what they do when they are faced with a scary situation. Be sure to ask them what their favorite part of Open Very Carefully: A Book with Bite is - mine has to do with the croc and the tutu!!!! :-)

I'm happy to share with you some free fun printables which you can use with your grandchildren on the Open Very Carefully: A Book with Bite Pinterest page! Check this link and you'll find coloring pages, dot-to-dots and more fun - and its all free! Enjoy!!!!
