The Hobbit - Books & a Give-Away!

Recently I posted about the release to blu-ray of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journe- and had a give-away for one blu-ray! Today I want to let you know about some books which are out about the making of The Hobbit . . . and let you know about a give-away of The Hobbit: Pocket Edition.

First, some of the books released in conjunction with the Hobbit . . .
  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey--The Movie Storybook - as it says on the book, "Relive the story of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in this fantastic photo-filled book. With this amazing retelling of the movie, you too can visit Middle-earth." I enjoyed getting the "condensed" version of the movie/story in this book. I liked how it has photos from the movie and think it is a great option, especially for  arents/grandparents to use to introduce their grandchildren to some of the characters in the movie. Show this book to them first so they can see some of the scary images and frightening situations before the movie . . . if they aren't too scared, then consider the movie! It is marked for children 8+.
  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey--The World of Hobbits - as it says, "Enter the amazing World of Hobbits. Packed with photos from the new blockbuster movie, this book will tell you all you need to know about these amazing creatures - their  appearance, appetites, homes, friends, deadly foes and much more." Again,  his is a great tool for parents/grandparents to help them determine if their young  grandchildren 8+ are ready for the intense characters and action in the movie! It will certainly help answer the questions of who, what, when, where, why and how related to The Hobbit!
  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Official Movie Guide - this is a must-have book for the fan of The Hobbit! Packed with interviews with director Peter Jackson,  Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and more, this will give you an inside-view to what making this movie was like! I enjoyed all the photos and finding out how they did all the things they did to make this movie! The sets, the props, the costumes, the make-up . . . as with The Lord of the Rings - which I LOVED, The Hobbit is no simple or ordinary movie to make. Jackson's vision of The Hobbit comes to life on the big screen and this book gives us a glimpse as to how he did that!
  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Visual Companion - this beautiful book is a guide to the places which make up and the characters who "live in" Middle-earth! I loved the foreword by Martin Freeman - this book is a delight and sure to be treasured by fans of The Hobbit!
As you can see, if you - or someone you know - is a true fan of The Hobbit, these are books you will want to add to your collection for sure!

Now, on to the give-away . . . The Hobbit: Pocket Edition. So what is the "pocket edition" of The Hobbit??? It is the complete, unabridged copy of The Hobbit . . . in a small, Hobbit-sized copy! It even has a dust-jacket of the original art-work painted by Tolkien - and I'm giving one away! (USA only)  So, how do you enter this give-away which will be on May 22, 2013? First, you will receive one entry for each way you have followed/liked grandma's cookie jar; one entry if you follow on Google+, one entry if you follow on Google Friend Connect, one entry if you follow by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG at this link (not just liking the post) and one entry if you follow by email. This gives you the possibility of four entries. In addition, you will receive one entry if you share on facebook, one entry if you share on twitter, one entry if you share on Google + for a total of three additional entries each time I post about the The Hobbit: Pocket Edition. Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know!
