Make Time for What REALLY Matters!

Yesterday I had the wonderful surprise of my son, daughter-in-law and grandsons stopped by to visit . . . Josiah asked if he and Caleb could spend the night and of course I said, yes!!! So, this morning my posts were delayed because I had sweet boys who wanted to be held . . . and this grandma is one who will not pass up an opportunity to snuggle!!! :-) <3 <3 <3

I'm reading a book - which I'll review tomorrow - about raising children. While there are no shortage of books on this topic, I really like a lot of what this author says. She says when children are little - the first five years - it really matters for them to know they have our attention. I agree. I do not believe it spoils a child to stop what you are doing, look them in the eyes and listen to what they are saying and to watch what they want to show you. If they know you love them by not just the words you say, but how you give them your time, this will stay with them forever!

So, when I have sweet boys who want my lap, my computer can be set aside and be come back to later. These little ones are only little for a few short years. Josiah is already almost five - he will be going to kindergarten in just a few weeks. The time has flown by. So when they want my attention - they will have it!
