October is National Pizza Month!

While we likely do not need a month to celebrate pizza, October is National Pizza Month! So, in honor of this special - and tasty - month, I thought I'd share with you some fun pizza facts I found on-line. Did you know . . .
  • The highest-grossing single-unit independent pizzeria in the nation, Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria, is in Anchorage, Alaska. Its annual sales are approximately $6 million.
  • Pizza came to the USA with soldiers returning from serving in Italy during World War II
  • The top 5 pizza sales days are: Super Bowl Sunday, New Year's Eve, Halloween, The night before Thanksgiving and New Year's Day
  • The world's fastest pizza maker can make 14 pizza in 2 minutes and 35 seconds
  • About 3 billion pizzas are sold annually in the U.S.
I personally love pan pizzas with ham, bacon, sausage and onion! My grandsons love pepperoni and/or sausage pizza and the rest of my family like supreme pizzas! Since my family has different ways they like their pizza, I tend to make personal pizzas when I make homemade pizza - this way each person can have their pizza just the way they like it the most! (Here is a link to the recipe I like to use) What kind of pizza do you and your family like the most?
