I always fix the dinner menu the birthday person chooses - in this case, steak, herbed red potato cubes, homemade non-dairy squash bread, corn and non-dairy homemade chocolate cake - so, as we got dinner ready, Josiah had another great idea . . . he thought it would be fun for the two of us to sing, "Happy Birthday" to his daddy, but I could only sing, "happy birthday" and he would sing the rest of the words! We practiced a couple times and were all ready for the "party"!
When Dave arrived, Josiah told him he had to find his present from him and Caleb so off they went to find it with Josiah telling his daddy if he was "hot" or "cold"! (He hid it in the rocket, so it didn't take a long time to find it!) Dave enjoyed playing this "find it" game with Josiah to find his gift and Josiah really loved it!
After dinner, Josiah and I sang for his daddy - it was a fun birthday dinner - made more fun by the great ideas of a five-year old!
What do you do to celebrate family birthdays?
