grandma's music "notes" - Clay Crosse "reDedication" . . . I'm Giving One Away!

Many of you may recognize the name, Clay Crosse as a four-time Dove Award winning artist, but whether you do, or not, his new album, "reDEDICATION", is absolutely one worth getting as it is sure to have songs you will listen to over and over again!

The promo material I received with the download for my review said, "With the release of "
reDEDICATION", Crosse returns with a project of songs worthy of those which first caused the industry to take note. Two singles from the CD are currently being played at Christian radio: 'Working On A Building,' featuring Russ Taff and Melinda Doolittle, at AC and Gospel radio formats; and 'When I Lift My Hands' at Soft AC and Inspirational radio  formats'When I Lift My Hands' recently hit No. 22 on the Billboard Christian Soft AC chart."
  • "I Rest In You" starts right out with setting the "pace" for this CD with; "You're the Father / You're the Healer / Son of God and the Great Redeemer / I can trust in You because I know / Every moment, every minute / Oh God, I know You're in it!'"  I LOVE how he goes on to sing, "Every breath and every heartbeat / I feel Your love surround me / Even when the way's unclear / I know You'll see me through / 'Cause every moment, every minute / I rest in You." Powerful! I need to remember this.
  • "reDedication" sounds like it is the song which reflects Clay's heart; he says, "I experienced a personal, formal rededication of my life to Christ in 1998, and that decision has been working in me ever since. Every year there is a growing realization there are still miles to go in my relationship with Christ. That's a great thing. Fifteen years later, this realization still resonates with me in a richer, even more meaningful way than it did when I first rededicated my life to Christ." Clay reflects this decision in every song on this album, but reDedication puts his decision into words;  "I'm holding tightly to Your loving hand / I don't wanna let go again."
  • "Vessel" is a song with "spunk"; one which will have you singing along; "I'll be Yours/ I'll be Your vessel/ You're the only thing that can fill me anymore/I'll be Your vessel!" How encouraging to be reminded we can be God's "hands" because He can use us! I love the start where Clay sings; "It's a mystery how You overflow this empty well/and You always see something so beautiful in this empty shell/so pour over me!" Whether I "feel" it or not, the truth is God always sees something beautiful in each of us!
  • "Your River's Wide Enough" encourages us with the truth of how God's mercy is; "wide enough to drown the sins of every living soul / wide enough to hold the earth so no one is alone / wide enough to bring the Heavens down so we would know / You're wide enough to carry us all the way / all the way home." We all need to be reminded of this and Clay does an amazing job of doing so with this song!
  • "Waving a White Flag" is one which we all need to follow in our own walk - we all need to reach a point where we say; "I'm at the end of myself / This game of tug-of-war is through / Surrendering everything, I dedicate my life to you / I'm waving a white flag / flying it high ‘cause I'm giving up." reDedication is something all of us can do and this song challenges us to do so!
  • "Working on a Building" finds Russ Taff and Melinda Doolittle joining Clay as they sing, "Working on a building/ something which will pass the test of time . . . brick by brick, I build it up /Workin' on a building/cuz I know the rains will come . . . Storm clouds will come / storm clouds will go / But the one thing I know / This house will last / This house will hold." This song has pure, enjoyable spunk and a solid message we all need to hear and take to heart; trials will come, but we do not have to give up because when we build our lives on Jesus it will last and hold! I LOVE this song!!!
  • "When I Lift My Hands" will have you lifting your own hands and worshiping God with; "When I lift my hands, I'm reaching for Heaven / When I lift my hands and call out Your name / I surrender everything I am and all I do / when I lift my hands, my Lord, to You." Jesus is the reason and our hearts do long for Him; this is a song we can all sing from our hearts because He is the, "Promise and Hope which gets us through each day!"
  • "The Stand" calls on us to make the only response we can make to God for His mercy, promise and hope; "What can I say/what can I do,/but offer this heart O God completely to You?/ . . . I'll stand/with arms high and heart abandoned/ in awe of the One Who gave it all/ I'll stand with my soul Lord to Your surrendered/all I am is Yours!" This is all we can do; our only response and when we make it, we are filled with joy! I LOVE this song; it is my favorite from the CD!
  • "All Because of You" This song reminds me to be faithful to do whatever God wants - fulfill the reason I'm here and when I do, to know; "Anything that's good in me, /anything that's true / It's all because of You.
  • "Good Morning Lord" is a great song to end this CD with - I agree with Clay; "I won't last a day without You here by my side / Everything inside my soul longs for you, so strong for You / And Lord, I bring / every single thing that I go through / back to You / until another day is new." This would certainly make a wonderful prayer to begin each day with a focus on God and asking Him to join us in every moment of each new day! This would be a great song to teach our grandchildren and sing with them in the mornings when they are at our homes . . . I think I'll teach it to Josiah and Caleb!
I've been trying to get to this CD for a few weeks now so I could review it for you; I'm so glad I finally had the time to sit down and listen to it! There are several songs from it which I LOVE and will make part of my personal "play-list"! I love the messages, the passion and the heart for knowing and walking with God which comes through loud and clear from start to finish of  "reDEDICATION". This is a CD well worth making your own! Definitely listen to it with your grandchildren and when you do, talk with them about the messages in the songs and what it means to dedicate ourselves to God!

I'm so happy to say, not only was I sent a CD for review, but an additional one is available for me to give away!  I'll have the drawing on January 25, 2014, so if you are over the age of 18, live in the USA and would like to be in the drawing for this wonderful CD, comment below and share the song which most challenges you to dedicate yourself to God; for me while there are many songs which do this, my favorite one is, It is Well with My Soul; "When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, /When sorrows like sea billows roll; /Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, /It is well, it is well, with my soul./It is well, with my soul,/It is well, it is well, with my soul. /Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, /Let this blest assurance control, /That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, /And hath shed His own blood for my soul. /My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! /My sin, not in part but the whole, /Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, /Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!" I love this song and knowing the man who wrote it did so after losing his family when their ship was sunk, challenges me to trust God and be faithful to Him!

Additional entries in this give-away are available if you follow on Google+, Google Friend Connect, follow by liking on facebook with the tab at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email.
