It is the International Day of Awesomeness!

When I first saw this "special" day, I wasn't sure if I'd write about it, but then I saw the
following quote on the web page for the day; "No one's perfect, but everyone can be awesome!" and knew I had to write about it!

First of all, what a great quote! It is true, none of us are perfect, but we can all be awesome! I know my grandsons are awesome - at least to me! Take some time today to let your grandchildren and other family members and friends know how awesome they are to you . . . which makes you pretty awesome, too!

I thought it would be fun to share some of the information with you which I found on the International Day of Awesomeness' web page . . .
  • The International Day of Awesomeness is a celebration of awesomeness. People are awesome every day, frequently don't realize it and their feats of awesomeness are rarely recognized. We aim to fix this with a special day to both perform and celebrate feats of awesomeness!
  • The easiest way to celebrate The International Day of Awesomeness is to be awesome. You could organize a group of your friends to perform feats of awesomness. You could write a blog entry about someone you think epitomizes the ideals of awesomeness. The International Day of Awesomeness should be fun and not taken too seriously.
  • The International Day of Awesomness occurs every year on March 10th. Why? Because it's Chuck Norris' birthday. No offense to Mr. Norris, but this isn't really a salute to Chuck Norris, the man. This is a tribute to the awesomeness of the myth of Chuck Norris (see the Wikipedia entry).
So, now on to celebrating with your grandchildren. First of all, talk with them about how God is perfect and He is really the most Awesome One. Lead them in thanking God for how Awesome He is and for the awesome things He has done, such as . . .
  • Create our beautiful world - go on a walk together and take photos of some of the awesome things you see which God created. Make a, "God's Awesome Creation" book with your photos and thank God for all He created!
  • God's grace and forgiveness - talk with your grandchildren about how amazing and awesome it is for God to give us grace and forgiveness! Make a song to a familiar tune about God's awesome grace and forgiveness!
  • God's blessings in your lives - talk about the blessings; big and small which God has given you. Thank Him for your family, friends, home, opportunities to serve others, the gifts and abilities He has given each of you . . . this list could go on and on!
Then, consider having your grandchildren do awesome things . . . such as . . .
  • Draw pictures to take to shut-ins
  • Bake cookies for neighbors
  • Learn a song and sing it for friends in a nursing home
  • Do extra chores to give mom a break
  • Make banana bread for their teacher
What will you do to celebrate International Day of Awesomeness?
