Special Birthday Give-Away - Close as a Breath

Young children always have lots and lots of questions about the world around them and we as grandparents/parents often find ourselves answering these many questions.  So, today I'm very happy to announce another special give-away for my Birthday Month of Special Give-Aways of a book where a little girl asks a lot of questions!

Close as a Breath

Illustrator - Sarah Ackerley
Publisher - Graham Blanchard
Ages - 0-6

Favorite Features -
  • Illustrations which fit beautifully with the text of the story
  • Sturdy Board Book will hold up to little ones "reading" it for themselves!
  • Simple story about a little girl who wonders about the world around her and how her dad answers her many questions
  • Ends with the verse; "Romans 1:20 - For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made . . .."
  • Tips for Grown-ups on their website provide ideas for ways to, "build on the book"
Graham Blanchard says: "Every parent and grandparent has enjoyed magical moments with their children, when you are completely attuned with each other. This
harmonious connection is also what we seek in our relationship with God. In this Absorb book, a child questions all she sees in her search for understanding. Her patient and loving father attempts to explain the wonders and mysteries which abound in the world, using language and imagery she can comprehend. The child gains a sense of contentment and safety, knowing her loving parent and gracious God are always close by."

This short story is one little children will enjoy having read to them . . . be ready for them to have their own questions they will want to ask after listening to this book! I like the dad's answer in the text: "In God's world stars shine, clouds float, ice melts and trees renew. God gives us air. He gives us life. He keeps His promises to you. You can't see God or grasp Him, but you know He's there. His love and His power are alive everywhere." This is what passing on a heritage of faith is all about; connecting God to our grandchildren's/children's day-in-day-out lives!

Have fun reading Close as a Breath with your grandchildren and be sure to take time to go on a walk with them to see God's amazing world around us which He created . . . take your camera with you to take pictures of things you see and then make your own book about "God's World"!

  1. Wow...this book sounds so amazing for young children. I am in awe of all of God's creation...I was reminded at a women's conference this week that God could have made everything in black and white but He used color for us to enjoy!! I follow on fb and email.
