Special Birthday Give-Away - Mud Puddle Hunting Day

Spring has arrived in Michigan! I can tell this by the way the flowers are starting to bloom, the trees are budding, the temperatures are warmer, the snow has melted and most especially by how my grandsons are very quick to jump and splash in every puddle they come across! Ah, yes! Spring and mud puddles do tend to go together, so what could be more fun than jumping and splashing in puddles? Possibly reading a book about mud puddles! So, today I'm very happy to announce another special give-away for my Birthday Month of Special Give-Aways!

Mud Puddle Hunting Day
Author - Callie Grant
Illustrator - Melanie Magee
Publisher - Graham Blanchard
Ages - 0-6

Favorite Features -
  • Colorful, fun illustrations - looks like there is a Basset Hound in this story, so of course I will love the illustrations!
  • Sturdy Board Book will hold up to little ones "reading" it for themselves!
  • Simple, sweet story about a little girl who sets out to find mud puddles
  • Ends with the verse; "Psalm 100:1 - Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth."
  • Tips for Grown-ups on their website provide ideas for ways to, "build on the book"
Graham Blanchard says: "This joyful book reminds parents how wondrous the world is to a young child. The musical text and watercolor images reveal the exquisite detail of nature which we sometimes miss, as we hurry children along in our busy lives. The glory of God’s creation exists in the cozy bird’s nest and the sound of rain falling on leaves which are so eloquently depicted in this lovely board book. Parents can help their children connect all these wonders to God’s bounty and affirm the amazing gift of our senses and our innate ability to appreciate the world around us."

This short, fun story is one little children will enjoy having read to them . . . be ready to take them out to hunt for their own mud-puddles as they are sure to want to do this! The text is fun: "Slide on my boots, start making my way. Slip on my raincoat, the umbrella will stay. Today is the day getting wet is okay. It's a mud puddle hunting day!" I like the part where it says: "All of God's wonders look different for play on a mud puddle hunting day." Have fun reading Mud Puddle Hunting Day with your grandchildren and be sure to take time to hunt a puddle of two with them as well . . . take your camera with you to take pictures of things you see and then make your own book about hunting for mud puddles!

I'm very happy to say, not only did Graham Blanchard send me one copy of Mud Puddle Hunting Day for me to review, but they are making another available for me to give away! (USA only) If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be in the drawing for Mud Puddle Hunting Daywhich will be on May 5, 2014, you may enter by commenting below to let me know your own experience with mud puddles . . . when was about five years old, I went outside one Spring day in my boots and coat . . . I found a mud puddle in my yard and of course had to splash in it. Unfortunately, for me, the mud was deeper than I thought and I got stuck in the mud! I stood there crying and calling for help until a neighbor saw me and came to my rescue!!! I now recommend avoiding mud puddles which are more mud than puddle!!!!

Additional entries in this give-away are available if you follow on Google+, Google Friend Connect, follow by liking on facebook with the tab at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email. For each of these which you have done you will receive one entry. In addition, if you "share" this post, you'll receive an additional entry (please let me know if you share!) This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win Mud Puddle Hunting Day and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know!
