grandma's movie review - When Calls the Heart - A Telling Silence - I'm Giving One Away!

In the past year I've had the opportunity to review two of the When Calls the Heart movies; When Calls the Heart and When Calls the Heart - Lost & Found. So, when Hallmark/Word invited me to review another When Calls the Heart movie, I was delighted to do so.

When Calls the Heart: A Telling Silence
Produced by the Hallmark Channel/Word
Not Rated

Favorite Features -
  • Actors do a good job of presenting believable characters
  • Solid messages about family, making wise choices, telling the truth, being careful not to misjudge others, God's love and forgiveness
  • The basset hound in the story is adorable!
Hallmark/Word says; "Feeling sorry for 8-year-old mute Rosaleen Sullivan, teacher Elizabeth Thatcher reaches out to the little girl as they share lunch. But when Elizabeth is called away and then returns, Rosaleen is missing! Meanwhile, constable Jack Thornton discovers evidence Cat Montgomery may have been involved in a suspicious church fire. Could the two cases be related?"

When Calls the Heart: A Telling Silence is based on the book written by Janette Oke and takes us into the lives of Elizabeth, Jack and the people in Coal Valley. I especially liked the solid message about how, "telling the truth is always right" and how dangerous and damaging it can be to jump to conclusions. While the setting, characters and story are engaging, I am very happy to see a story which is told well and which teaches at the same time. When you watch this with your grandchildren, be sure to take time to ask them about the choices made by characters in the story. Ask them if they can identify examples of people who made wise choices and those who did not. Ask them what they think about the statement; "Telling the Truth is always right". Talk together about how people jumped to conclusions and the pain it caused others; encourage them to choose to be people who do not gossip, who do not jump to conclusions, who are quick to believe the best about others and who are generous in the way they forgive others.

I found When Calls the Heart: A Telling Silence is a story which a family could enjoy together; although they absolutely could have left out the spider in the end - or most definitely killed it!!!

I'm very happy to say, not only did Hallmark/Word send me one copy of When Calls the Heart: A Telling Silence DVD to review, but they also sent an additional copy for me to give away!
