It is National Missing Children's Day

Typically I write about the joys of being a grandma, product I find interesting and ideas to help pass on a heritage of faith. Today, I'm sharing a very serious day with you - National Missing Children's Day. "In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 as National Missing Children's Day. Each year the Department of Justice (DOJ) commemorates Missing Children's Day with a ceremony honoring the heroic and exemplary efforts of agencies, organizations, and individuals to protect children.

Every day 2,300 children are reported missing in America. (According to Child Find) While many, if not most, of these children are runaways, this number shocks me; and saddens me. If one of my sweet grandsons were missing, I'd be devastated; as I'm sure you all would be as well if your sweet grandchild were missing. So, on this day - and every day, let's take time to pray for the children who are missing and for the families of these children. Be intentional about being alert; know if children are missing in your area and be watchful. Be sure to talk with your grandchildren about how important it is for them to never go somewhere with anyone who their parents have not given them permission to go with and most importantly, since so many missing children are runaways, be certain your grandchildren know how much they are loved and how you consider them to be a treasured gift from the hand of God.
