grandma's bookshelf - Fact or Fib?: A Challenging Game of True or False - I'm Giving One Away!

Summer is a great time for reading books! Summer is also a great time for playing games! So, if you are able to combine these two great things with a book which is also a game, well, you are definitely in for some fun times . . . whether is is Summer or any time of the year!

With this in mind, I was very happy when I opened a package from Sterling Children's Books and found; Fact or Fib?: A Challenging Game of True or False and I am very happy to let you know what I think about this little book/game and to give another away as well!

Fact or Fib?: A Challenging Game of True or False Book 1
Author - Kathy Furgang
Art Direction - Jennifer Browning
Ages - 8+

Favorite Features -
  • Great photos and illustrations throughout - full of color and fun!
  • Simple to play . . . and as you do, you will be learning!
  • Topic - animals, bugs, dinos and more - is one of interest to nearly everyone!
  • Great for family fun on a trip, a rainy day or any time!
Sterling Children's Books says; "Find out about science and the world around us . . . all by playing a game! Each book in this brightly illustrated and entertaining new series gives kids (and adults, too!) lots of chances to test their smarts. How much do you know about dinosaurs, bugs, and animals? Play a round of “Fact or Fib” and find out! Stegosaurus had the smallest brain of all the dinosaurs. An ant can lift a ladybug. There are about four million dogs in the world today. Which of these is true—and which isn't? Each 'fact or fib' features three statements—but only two are totally true. Make your choices, turn the page, and see whether you're right or wrong, along with more cool facts about the topic."

I love this little book - and so did Josiah and Caleb when they saw what I received in the mail! Along with being informative, this book has a lot of laughs packed within it's covers! At least there was a lot of laughing at my house (technically, in my car) when we made our way through it! Just for fun, I thought I'd share a, "Facts or Fibs?" with you!
  • The wettest place in the world is located in India.
  • Dragonflies are one of Earth's newest species, discovered only 100 years ago.
  • Cows moo with an accent based on where they are from.
So . . . which one is the "fib"? (I'll put the answer below!)

I'm very happy to say, not only did Sterling Children's Books send me one Fact or Fib? Book 1 for me to review, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only)! If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be in the drawing for the Fact or Fib?: A Challenging Game of True or False Book 1which will be on July 17, 2014, you may enter by commenting below to tell me which of the three statements above did you think was the fib?

Additional entries in this give-away are available if you follow on Google+, Google Friend Connect, follow by liking on facebook with the tab at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email. For each of these which you have done you will receive one entry. In addition, if you "share" this post, you'll receive an additional entry (please let me know if you share!) This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win the Fact or Fib?: A Challenging Game of True or False Book 1 and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know! (Oh, and Mawsynram, in India's Meghalaya State, gets an average of 467 inches of rain each year - fact! Dragonflies are one of Earth's oldest creatures. Scientists have found fossils of dragonflies - fib!!! Which means, just as you may speak with an accent from your geographic region, scientists have found cows moo with regional accents because they imitate those around them - fact!!!) Are you surprised? I knew the one about the dragonflies had to be the fib, but found it difficult to believe cows have accents!!!
