Sterling Children's Books says; "Birds of a feather may flock together, but Calvin is not like the rest of his starling flock. It's easy to see why: this bright birdie always has his beak in a book. One day it becomes clear to Calvin that things look a little . . . well, unclear. A nifty pair of eyeglasses brings the world back into focus, but now Calvin is the only bespectacled starling. After getting teased about his new glasses, he sets off into the woods and finds himself in trouble. Can this book-smart bird use what he's learned in order to save himself?"
If a child you love enjoys reading and/or wears glasses, this story about Calvin is one they are likely to enjoy! Calvin is smart and does not give up when he ends up stuck; he thinks of a way to get help and in so doing, helps his 67,432 cousins and friends - just in time to "migrate as the coolest flock in the whole, wide sky!" I'm very happy for the opportunity to give away one, Calvin, Look Out! If you are over the age of 18, live in the USA and would like to be included in this give-away, which will be on September 1, 2014, you may enter by commenting below to tell me about a time when you were "stuck" - I was about four years old and got stuck in the mud outside my house one spring day! I was sure I'd be stuck forever - or sink all the way to China! A neighbor heard me crying, pulled me out of the mud and took me to my mom.

ReplyDeleteI'm a retired teacher and was staying late working one day at school. I had to go outside for a minute to clean out the praying mantis aquarium I had in my classroom and didn't realize the door would be locked from the outside. I walked around the entire school trying to knock and get someone's attention. Finally after 20 minute the custodian heard me and let me inside.

When I was little I got stuck in the Fun House ride. I just kept spinning around in the barrel. My cousins and Uncle had to come rescue me.
