grandma's bookshelf - Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper - I'm Giving One Away!

A little over a year ago I had the opportunity to share a wonderful, fun and delightful book with you; Bash and the Pirate Pig! (You'll find my review at this link.) So, when I was invited to share another "Bash book" with you, I was very happy to do so!

Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper
Author - Burton Cole
Illustrator - Tom Bancroft
Publisher - BH Kids
Ages - 8+

Favorite Features -
  • Once again: Humor! Humor! Humor! Which, once again, leads to lots of laughing, and laughing and laughing!
  • The return of the crazy characters from the first book, which adds to the fun and the humor . . . and of course, the laughing!
  • And, once again, in and between the crazy antics of Beamer and Bash are solid lessons about family, friends, making wise choices and God and His Word!
I love Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper! While my grandsons are not old enough to read it themselves, it is a book we are definitely going to read together - and I'm sure, will be laughing at together - one chapter at a time! Which will, of course, mean - lots of snuggling in grandma's lap so I love it even more!!!

BH Kids says, "Mysterious footprints in the snow. Vanishing mittens, misplaced eggs. A pink, purple, and orange paisley sleeping bag on the move. Something’s definitely amiss in the chicken coop, and wackiness runs amok on Bash Hinglebobb’s blizzard-blasted farm. While Bash is inventing such contraptions as a snowball catapult from inner tubes and underwear, his cousin Beamer Boxby, a city kid at heart, must help newcomer Lauren Rodriguez figure out why God lets horrible things happen to good people. Can Bash’s Farmin’ and Fishin’ Book (the Bible) be believed when it says, 'We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God'? What about when fire rolls through an animal building. Or when a kid’s lost her dad? It’s time to find out—with a little help from an ice-skating pig."

Extreme, sail-powered superboard supersleds heading down the roof of the chicken coop sets the pace at the beginning of the book for a story which will leave children - and adults, once again wanting to hear/read the next chapter, and will have everyone laughing out loud for sure! As I expected after Bash and the Pirate Pig, solid messages are ones children will understand and be challenged by as well making Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper another definite "must-have" addition to any personal library!

I'm delighted to say not only did I receive a copy of Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper for review, but an additional copy is available for me to give away! (USA only) If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be in the drawing for Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper, which will be on October 5, 2013,  please comment below to let me know if you are a person who enjoys playing in the snow, or if you prefer something warmer! I personally am not a fan of snow!

  1. I love Fall. Being a Michigander I tolerate snow...it's beautiful if I'm inside looking out. I follow on Facebook and email.
