Former pro soccer phenom Mia Hamm has been an athlete her entire life – and her love of physical activity is something she and her husband have worked hard to instill in their children." This past Monday I had the opportunity to interview Mia about how we can get our children up and moving - check the interview out here!
I loved seeing the footage of Fit Made Fun Day - the sand angels looked like a lot of fun! You can find out more about Mia's foundation at this link and follow her suggestion to learn more about the LeapBand and how you can have your own Fit Made Fun Day at this link.
LeapFrog understands how technology can encourage children to sit, so they developed the LeapFrog LeapBand which does the opposite - encourages children to move! They are sending one for free to me so I can review it - which I will write about it as soon as it arrives and the boys can check it out for me - and they are making another available for me to give away (USA only)! If you are over the age of 18, live in the USA and would like to be included in this give-away, which will be on September 23, 2014, you may enter by commenting below by telling me a fun and unique way you would like to get your grandchildren moving - for me it would be to take them to Mt. Lassen and let them climb to the top of it (an active volcano - which since it is a day hike, it is a family friendly activity!). For a more realistic idea which the boys could do every day, I think it would be fun to make up "Super Hero Moves" and let them play as Super Josiah and Super Caleb with their "cool moves"!
Additional entries in this give-away are available if you follow on Google+, Google Friend Connect, follow by liking on facebook with the tab at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email. For each of these which you have done you will receive one entry. In addition, if you "share" this post, you'll receive an additional entry (please let me know if you share!) This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win the LeapFrog LeapBand and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know!
Music is always a great way to get kids moving, especially when you get up moving with them no matter how silly you look!
ReplyDeleteMy grandsons do love to move to music and it is often very silly, so I totally agree! :-)

ReplyDeleteThis time of year we go outside rake leaves and jump in them
ReplyDeleteMost of our leaves are still on the trees and green here in Michigan, but they are starting to turn, so it won't be long before the kazillion leaves on our many trees are no longer on the trees, but on our yard instead! :-)

We love creating silly obstacle courses (inside and outside). It not only gets us moving, but also lets our sillies out.
