2014 Christmas Gift Review - Snap Circuits - I'm Giving One Away!

If you have a grandson, they will likely be very excited to find a gift under the tree from Snap Circuits (your granddaughters very well may be as well!)! What is, "Snap Circuits", you ask? Well, first of all, it is far more than a toy, but it is no less fun than the coolest toy on the market! Snap Circuits allows children to wonder, investigate, create, learn, and yes, have a lot of fun all while discovering electronics! Wait! I know, you might be thinking, "How fun can it be to, 'discover' electronics?" Well, when you get to build things like; AM radios, burglar alarms, and doorbells just for starters, the answer is clearly, "great fun"!!!

Elenco sent me the Elenco Snap Circuits SC-300 Physics Kit for review (for free in exchange for my review - I guarantee you my review is my opinion- and the opinion of Josiah, his dad and poppa as well!) At first Josiah was confused and was not sure what the kit could do - he was just five at the time. But, as his poppa and daddy started explaining what the kit could do and how the pieces went together, Josiah's face lit up and he wanted to put together one project after another. While I usually say to stick to age limits on toys, there could be times when younger children can use and enjoy an item (with adult supervision); in the case of this Snap Circuits kit, Josiah is an exception. He LOVED it! It didn't take long for him to understand how to read the directions and he was putting projects together and showing his little brother Caleb how they worked! Of course he needed his daddy and poppa to explain the, "hows" and "whys" for him, but this kit is far better than just a toy. Not only is it fun to build the projects, but as he did, Josiah was learning about electronics and science! Snap Circuits is definitely, "grandma approved"!

The SC-300 kit I was sent has everything you need to build 300 exciting projects - yes, I said 300! Elenco says; "Snap Circuits makes learning electronics easy and fun. Just follow the colorful pictures in our manual and build exciting projects such as AM radios; burglar alarms; doorbells and much more. You can even play electronic games with your friends. All parts are mounted on plastic modules and snap together with ease. Enjoy hours of educational fun while learning about electronics. No tools required."

As I said above, Snap Circuits is definitely, "grandma approved"! If I had something like Snap Circuits when I was a child, I would have been much more interested in Science! I'm really happy to see how Snap Circuits kindles Josiah's interest in how things go together as well as how and why they work! I have no doubt as Caleb and then Shane get older, they will also want to discover how electronics works with Snap Circuits! The colorful kits are engaging and fun, the directions make sense and are easy to understand and follow and the wide array of interesting things children can create with Snap Circuits is sure to keep them going back to "play" with it for hours at a time! Snap Circuits is as much fun as any toy, but it is absolutely far, far more than just a toy!
