birthday month give-away - The Day Is Waiting!

I was recently invited to review a new book with illustrations from Don Freeman (the creator of Corduroy the Bear). It arrived last night and I have to say, I love this book! So, today I'm very happy to share my opinions of the book, The Day Is Waiting!

The Day Is Waiting
Illustrator - Don Freeman
Author - Linda Zukerman
Publisher - Zonderkidz
Ages - 4-7

Favorite Features -
  • Wonderful, beautiful illustrations with so many fun details and filled with color!
  • Story encourages imagination, curiosity, discovery and the comfort of home
Zonderkidz says; "Don Freeman, the creator of Corduroy, was one of the most beloved and popular author/illustrators of picture books for children. After Freeman’s death in 1978, colleagues and his wife decided to use his never before published artwork and make a commemorative book using his wonderful illustrations. Paired with Linda Zuckerman's thoughtful rhyming text, The Day Is Waiting takes readers on a tour of our big, wide world and reminds us no matter how far we roam, we always have home to come back to.This classic tale is imbued with Freeman’s gentle humor, spontaneity, and his appreciation of the variety and complexity of human experiences, creating a book children will enjoy reading again and again."

I love how The Day Is Waiting combines a short, simple story and illustrations which are a joy to look at. By asking questions throughout the story, the child reading or listening to the story becomes a part of it all! I love how it ends; "But whatever you do, It's good to know home will be waiting for you." This is something I certainly want my grandsons to know - whatever they do and wherever they go, home (and grandma's house) will always be waiting for them! Engaging and enjoyable, The Day Is Waiting is a book children will want read to them and adults will want to read!

I'm very happy to say not only did Zonderkidz send me one copy of The Day Is Waiting for review, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). The give-away will be on May 30, 2015, so if you are over the age of 18 and would like to be in the drawing for The Day Is Waiting, please comment below to let me know what you see when you look outside (this is the question which starts the story in The Day Is Waiting). For me, the answer is, country, woods, and sometimes deer and turkeys!

In addition, you will receive additional entries if you have followed on Google+, Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email. For each of these which you have done you will receive one entry. In addition, if you "share" this post, you'll receive an additional entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win
The Day Is Waiting and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away!
