Michael W. Smith - Sovereign - I'm Giving One Away!

Last week I shared a music video with you from Michael W. Smith's CD; Sovereign. (You can still see the video for the song, Sky Spills Over, at the top right side of grandma's cookie jar.) Last night the CD arrived, so this morning I'm very happy to share my review of Sovereign with you!

Favorite Features -

• The very first song is one of my absolute favorite songs - You Won't Let Go. This, in and of itself, is enough reason for me to love this CD!
• The CD has twelve songs on it - a generous serving of the clear, solid voice of Michael W Smith combined with lyrics which pull us in to worshiping God along with Michael.
• Common theme throughout this CD is one which encourages the listener with the truth God is big enough, come what may, is "Sovereign Over Us" and He, "Won't Let Go" and then turns from challenging and encouraging us to worship of, "The One That Really Matters".

I have been a "fan" of Michael W. Smith's clear vocals and solid messages through song since the early '80's when my husband and I found his first tape - yes, back then we bought cassette tapes! Sovereign seems, to me, to be a project which springs from a heart which has lived life; experienced ups and downs and comes out with the firm belief, "No valley low changes the truth. So I'm not afraid. You hold me close. You lead me through. Light up the way. You are the ancor for my soul, You won't let go, You won't let go! No matter what may come I know, You won't let go, You won't let go!" I can identify with this, for sure!

The songs on Sovereign encourage, call us to worship and lead us in prayer - it is an album which will touch your soul. It is one I will listen to, praise God with and pray to God; and one I will share with my grandsons as the messages in these songs are absolutely ones I want them to hear.
