crafting with grandma - a Cool "Techy" Craft!

Did you know that you can use beads to write your name in the ASCII Binary code that computers use? Code Your Name is a fun STEM activity for kids!Okay - this morning I was browsing on Pinterest to see if I could find something fun to share with you, and boy did I! First of all, let me say, I am totally non-technical. While I have a basic understanding of the idea of "binary code", it is not possible to over-emphasize the word "basic" when referring to my understanding of it!

I did not know letters are assigned an eight digit code. I did not know you could take this code for each letter to spell names. I now know these things. I know them because I found a site with info on how to help children learn the binary code to spell their names . . . and had them make a neck-chain with the binary spelling of their name! How cool is this???!!! And even better, it is a STEM activity!!!

And, you could help your grandchildren spell out short sentences you want them to remember like: Jesus loves me!, or I'll follow Jesus! or Talk with God! The possibilities are endless and what a fun, cool and nerdy way to help your grandchildren think about, focus and remember something you want them to remember!

You will find all the details at this link - I think I will be buying some white and black beads and hemp twine or leather cord for my grandsons to use for their neck chains! A "techy" craft . . . how cool is this??? Enjoy!!!
