just for fun - It's S'mores Day!

Image result for images for s'mores dayYes, today is S'mores Day, so grab some graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate and get ready to make and enjoy a simple, tasty treat!

You could create your s'mores the traditional, old-fashioned way . . . build a bonfire and roast the marshmallows then assemble the s'more . . . certainly we have all made s'mores this way at one point in our lives!

Or, you could go a more "tech" way and layer graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallow in your microwave, zap for a minute and then add the top graham crackers for a rainy-day s'more!

You could buy a kit for making s'mores and roast your marshmallows inside, or you could try a "science project" and use a pizza box, foil and plastic wrap with the assistance of the sun to make your s'mores! (You'll find the directions for this option at the following link.)

And to add to the fun, here are a few s'more facts I found on-line . . .
  • S'mores got its name because anyone who eats one is sure to want "some more"!
  • Girl Scouts included the recipe for s'mores in their 1920 handbook.
  • Campers at Deer Run Camping Resort in Gardners, Pennsylvania built the world’s largest s’more. Weighing in at 267 pounds, they used 140 pounds of marshmallows, 90 pounds of chocolate, and 90 pounds of graham crackers.
  • Americans buy 90 million pounds of marshmallows every year - about half are used for s'mores.
  • The Hershey Company produces more than 373 million milk chocolate bars each year, enough to make 746 million s’mores.
So, however you make your s'mores, grab your grandchildren and enjoy this tasty treat today on S'mores Day!
