grandma's cookbook - Roasted Turkey with Apples

Image result for image for roasted turkey with applesThanksgiving is next week! I'm so looking forward to fixing Thanksgiving dinner . . . one of my favorite meals to prepare all year! This year I'm fixing roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, squash rolls, roasted brussel sprouts and mini carrots, corn on the cob and pumpkin pie. I can hardly wait!

So, today I thought I'd share with you my favorite recipe for making a tasty and simple roasted turkey . . . and the extra bonus is you will end up with amazing gravy! All you need is your turkey - whatever size you need for your family, apples, butter and herbs. I know - simple!

On Thanksgiving - check the chart on your turkey to determine how long you need to bake your turkey. When you are ready to get it in the oven, wash, pat dry, then, quarter and core about four to six apples - depending on the size of your apples and turkey. Stuff the apples into the cavity of your turkey - no, you will not be serving the apples - they are just there to flavor your turkey and gravy . . . and believe me, flavor them they will!

Then, slice a couple more apples and stuff the slices under the turkey skin along with your favorite herbs - I like Thyme and Marjoram. Add a little sliced butter under the skin then butter the top skin and sprinkle with sea salt.

Bake as directed on your turkey and get ready for a very moist, flavorful turkey . . . and, did I mention you'll also have amazing gravy???!!!

So, how do you prepare your turkey for Thanksgiving?
