My Christmas Carol for Today - Silent Night!

My Christmas Carol for you today is a very familiar song, Silent Night. Jesus is the Reason for the Season and we can celebrate, because of what happened on the Silent Night so very long ago! Enjoy this song sung by Casting Crowns and Merry Christmas!

While they are certainly familiar, take a look at the lyrics . . .

Silent night, Holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon Virgin Mother and Child,
Holy Infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight,
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia;
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born!
With the angels, let us sing
Hallelujah to the King
Christ the Savior is born
Christ the Savior is born
And thank God, Christ our Savior was born!!! Hallelujah! It is all to easy to lose sight of this at Christmas as we get caught up in gifts, decorations, parties, concerts, cookie baking, and the list goes on. Now, please do not misunderstand me. There is nothing wrong with things like giving gifts, decorating, attending parties and concerts, baking cookies or other things on this list, but in all these things we do to "celebrate", we need to remember what it really is all about. Christ our Savior was born! Without Him, there would be no reason to celebrate. We would still be lost in our sin with no hope.

So, as you celebrate, be sure to take time to keep the focus on the reason we celebrate; Christ our Savior was born! Be focused on turning conversations with your grandchildren to why we have any reason to celebrate; Christ our Savior was born! Take time to rejoice with your grandchildren about the Best Gift they will ever receive - Jesus, and keep the focus on Him!
