There! Did you sign up? Aren't you glad you did!
Now, for the rest of this post. So, you are signed up to be part of the Million Praying Grandparents . . . now what? Are you wondering how you actually pray for your grandchildren - or do you think your friends might wonder how they can really do this?
I am happy to share with you one of the weekly Scripture prayers from my book; Deeper In 4 Grandparents and Parents, Too! Praying the Scriptures for the Children You Love - Psalms Edition . . . which will release in a couple months.
Read – Psalm 3Pay attention to –· What does this passage tell me about prayer?· What does it tell me about trusting God?· What do I especially like about this passage?· What do I not like or do not understand?· How does this passage help me know God better?· What will I do to live this passage today?Prayer -Dear God, There are times when I feel like my foes are increasing. There are times when other attack me. I thank You for being my help! Please help me know, especially in those times, You LORD, are a shield around me! You are the One Who lifts up my head! I praise You LORD, I can cry aloud to You and know You answer me from Your holy mountain! I thank You I can lie down and sleep, then wake again because I know You sustain me! Thank You for the confidence You give which allows me to not be afraid of others who stand against me. I know salvation belongs to You!Please help my grandchildren/children know when they feel like others are against them, or even attacking them, they can be sure You are with them and are there to help them. Please help them experience how You are their shield when others are against them and how You lift their head, so they do not have to feel afraid or ashamed. As they call out to You for help, please fill their hearts with praise because they know and experience how You answer them. Please help them be able to sleep in peace and wake to a new day, fresh and ready to go because they are sustained by You. Please give them the confidence to know they can stand firm, because this confidence comes from You and knowing You will save them. Thank You for Your great love for us; I love You, too! Amen!Focus for the Week –Make this your prayer in the coming week and as you go through your day, make it a point to draw your thoughts to the following focus . . .
- Sunday – Dear God, There are times when I feel like my foes are increasing. There are times when other attack me. I thank You for being my help! Please help my grandchildren /children know You are their help when others are against them. Do I feel today like there are any who are against me? If so, what is happening in my life? Are there any people I have wronged? Do I need to ask anyone for forgiveness? What do I need to do? Pray my grandchildren/children will remember God is with them and will help them when others are against them, but will also take those time to seek God and find out if they need to make changes or ask for forgiveness as well.
- Monday – Please help me know, especially in those times, You LORD, are a shield around me! Please help my grandchildren/children know You are their shield, especially in difficult times. When others are against me, how does God show He is my help? How does He shield me? Take time to thank God for being my help and shield! Pray my grandchildren/children will be able to see how God is their shield and will remember He is there for them in those difficult times they face.
- Tuesday – You are the One Who lifts up my head! Please help my grandchildren/children experience how You lift their heads in difficult times. How does He do this? Be watching today for how God “lifts my head”! End my day thanking God for being with me and for “lifting my head”! Pray my grandchildren/children will be able to see how God lifts their heads by being with them in difficult times.
- Wednesday – I praise You LORD, I can cry aloud to You and know You answer me from Your holy mountain! Please fill my grandchildren’s /children’s hearts with praise to You as they experience how You answer their prayers. Take some time to make a list of at least five specific ways I know God hears and answers me and then praise Him for those things! Pray my grandchildren/children will have the confidence to pray; especially in difficult times. Pray they will be able to see and experience how God answers their prayers and will have hearts filled with praise to Him for doing so.
- Thursday – I thank You I can lie down and sleep, then wake again, because I know You sustain me! Please help my grandchildren /children be able to sleep in peace and wake up knowing You sustain them. What are one or two specific things God is doing to sustain me? How can I identify the way God sustains me? Pray my grandchildren/children will not be afraid, but will be able to sleep in peace then wake knowing God is with them and will help them.
- Friday – Thank You for the confidence You give which allows me to not be afraid of others who stand against me! On this day, please help my grandchildren/children find strength in the confidence You give. Do I experience the confidence God gives when others stand against me? How will I live differently today knowing God gives me confidence so I am not afraid? Pray my grandchildren/children will not be afraid when others stand against them, but will instead rest in the confidence God gives them.
- Saturday – I know salvation belongs to You! Please help my grandchildren/children find strength today in knowing You will save them. How will I praise God for His salvation and blessings? What can I do today to show I understand what God has done for me? How does it change my life to know God saves and blesses me? Pray my grandchildren/children will understand and experience how God saves them and will find strength and confidence in knowing God saves them.
