It's, I Want You to be Happy Day - But Not the Most Important Thing . . .

Yes, today is, I Want You to be Happy Day . . . a day especially focused on helping others be happy by sending a note, sharing chocolate (certainly will make others happy!), or whatever else you think of to spread happiness.

While I do want my grandsons to be happy, I really want them to be people who live holy lives more than I want them to be happy. Happiness is nice, but depends on circumstances . . . I can be happy one moment, then receive sad news and no longer be happy.

Holiness is different. Living a holy live does not depend upon circumstances. It is about living our lives in a way which reflects God's Word and brings glory to Him . . . and when we do, we receive the gift of joy . . . which is significantly better than just being "happy"!

So, yes, I do like it when my grandsons are happy . . . I love to hear them laugh and see their great smiles, but more than I want them to be happy, I want them to be children, then young men, and eventually adults who choose to live holy lives. Who choose to do what glorifies God. Who experience God's gift of joy!

This is what is really important!
