The Top Five "Do-Not's" for Grandparents - #3 - Don't Forget to Show Love in the Little Ways

Yes, there are many things we do as grandparents to show love to our grandchildren - big things . . . but there are also little things we need to remember to do as well. We may think the little things do not really matter, but the thing about the little things is sometimes they are actually the "big" things.

With this in mind, let's look at my #3 of my Top Five "Do-Not's" for Grandparents . . .
  • Do not allow your cookie jar to be empty . . . unless you are waiting for your grandchildren to arrive so you can make cookies together!
At this grandma's house, a full cookie jar (unless we are making cookies) is a reminder of my love. My grandsons (and hubby, daughter, son and daughter-in-law) all truly enjoy homemade cookies . . . they are particularly partial to my homemade cookies. On the rare occasion when the cookie jar is empty, there are truly sad faces at my house.

It may seem like a small thing, but it is a way I show my love - making the cookies I know my family enjoys, the way they particularly enjoy them. And, I do know it is not a "little" thing to my grandsons to know they will find grandma's homemade cookies in the cookie jars. Now, maybe at your house there will be a "little thing" which is actually not so "little", something different than having homemade cookies in the cookie jar. Discover what your "little things" are and then pay attention to them. Do not forget them, because some of the "little things" are really the big things - the things your grandchildren will remember.

What is on your "Do-Not's" list?
