The Top Five Things I Want My Grandsons to Learn - #3 - What it Means to Truly Love Others!

Throughout our grandchildren's lives we tend to mark moments when they learn something; for example -
  • When they learn to stand.
  • When they learn to walk.
  • When they learn to talk.
  • When they learn to read.
  • When they learn to drive.
  • When they learn enough to graduate.
And the list goes on. While these are all things I've rejoiced as my grandsons have learned - and look forward to them learning, there are some things which are the most important things for them to learn. I've been sharing these with you over the past couple days and today I'm sharing another - #3 . . .
  • What it means to truly love others. God's love for us is not meant to be kept inside . . . it needs to flow out and spread to those around us and around the world. I want my grandsons to grow to be men who love and serve others!
So many people say they want their grandchildren/children to be "happy", but happiness depends upon the circumstances. Joy, however; is different. It is a gift from God and does not depend on circumstances. When we love and serve others, we experience joy and it is ever so much better than just being "happy". I want my grandsons to learn to love and serve others and know when they do, they will experience joy!

This Summer when my grandsons are at my house we are going to focus upon loving and serving others. I want them to learn to love and serve others, so I will provide opportunities for them to learn to do this. We will work on special projects and spend time praying for them to have hearts which are quick to love others and tender to see how they are able to serve as well.

What do you want your grandchildren to learn?

  1. Well I was going to say the same thing! Compassion and serving others. I'm rejoicing this week, my granddaughter accepted Jesus into her heart at Bible school. What a blessing and joy!
