We all need people who generously give love to us and grandmas (and grandpas) are some of the most ideal people to do this. So, how might a grandma (and grandpa) generously show love to grandchildren near and far? Consider the following . . .
- Greet them with smiles, hugs and kisses - stop whatever you are doing and show them how happy you are to see them!
- My grandsons know if they come within reach, they are likely to at least receive a hug! Don't pass up opportunities to show you love with a hug!
- Be sure to say you love your grandchildren whenever you are around them, talk to them by phone or facetime.
- Mail notes, cards and reminders of how you love them!
- Bake their favorite cookies when they come to visit!
- Send them their favorite cookies if they live far away!
- Pray with them.
- Listen when they talk to you and make eye contact with them.
- Smile a lot!
- Learn about the things they are interested in.
This is just a very small list of ways to show your love, generously to your grandchildren. The point is, part of your "job", your "role" as grandma is to be a generous dispenser of love! When they think about the people who love them, grandma should absolutely be on their list!
So, what do you do to show love to your grandchildren? Do you see being a generous dispenser of love as part of your "role" as grandma? Why, or why not? What do you consider to be the "role" of grandma?
