The Bot That Scott Built
Author - Kim Norman
Illustrator - Agnese Baruzzi
Publisher - Sterling Children's Books
Ages - 3-7
Favorite Features -
- Fun setting for a story - science fair with a robot, exploding volcano, fire ants, and more is a fun place for a story children - boys in particular will enjoy.
- Cadence for the story/song, "The House That Jack Built", but with a sciency twist.
- As the science fair is "upset" some unexpected reactions brought laughs from my grandsons.
- Illustrations make the story so much fun!
Sterling Children's Books says; "When Scott builds a bot, a bippity-bot, sparks fly . . . and his entire classroom goes wild. Before long, fiery ants and carnivorous plants, a freaky frog, a big-bellied boa, and an exploding 'volcano' have wreaked total havoc. Can Scott's bot, which started it all, manage the mess? Cheers for the handy hero! A cumulative story with fun which grows and grows and GROWS."
My grandsons enjoyed The Bot That Scott Built - they liked the science fair setting, the robot, carnivorous plants, frogs, bots, bugs, snakes . . . pretty much everything! It is a fun book to read with your grandchildren . . . and then try some of the science projects yourself . . . although I'd recommend skipping the fire ants and big snakes!
I'm very happy to say, not only did Sterling Children's Books send me one copy to review, but they are making another available for me to give away on November 12, 2016. So, if you live in the USA, are over the age of 18 and would like to win The Bot That Scott Built, please comment below to let me know about a science project you have tried with your grandchildren/children . . . my grandsons love any project with baking soda and vinegar and of course, the one where you put a bar of Ivory soap in the microwave!

ReplyDeleteDone any science experiments with my grandkids but this book might inspire the 7 year old. I follow on Facebook and email.
My kids loved baking Sosa and vinegar as well! They also liked making a cloud in a bottle.
