grandma's bookshelf - God Made You Nose to Toes - and I'm Giving One Away!

This time of year we tend to make, "New Year's Resolutions", so today I'd like to suggest a "resolution" for you . . . encourage your grandchildren to read. I love books and believe there is great value in cultivating a love for reading in our grandchildren. My son posted a photo on Facebook yesterday of the seven books he found in his eight-year old son's bed (my grandson) . . . there were novels, comic books, a science project book and Lord of the Rings . . . yes, Lord of the Rings! He is on page 70 and he is eight years old!

My sweet Josiah loves to read and I do believe one reason for this is because his parents and grandparents made a point to read to him since he was just a very little baby! We read to him and read to his brothers as well - there is great value in doing this. My sweet Caleb (five years old) is beginning to read . . . he quite enjoys being able to put letters together to make words and sweet Shane (three years old) loves it when he learns a new letter!

Since I love books and reading, I'm always happy when I'm invited to read and review a new book. Recently Zonderkidz invited me to review God Made You Nose to Toes . . . I loved the title and thought it sounded like a fun book for little ones, so today I'm very happy to share it with you.

Zonderkidz says; "Help little ones understand God created each part of their bodies, so they can enjoy life and everything in it. In this delightful padded cover board book by well-known author and family therapist Leslie Parrott, children will be able to follow along with Toucan––with a great big nose––as he helps them learn God loves each one of them completely."

I found God Made You Nose to Toes to be a fun book - little ones will enjoy finding their own eyes, noses, toes, fingers and more as they hear how God created each of these to show His love for them. I especially love the parts which say; "When God made the ostrich, the monkey, and giraffe, He knew that you'd need a good mouth just to laugh . . . So many ways God shows that He cares. Did you know that He counts each one of your hairs?" A fun book for sure!

I'm very happy to say, not only did Zonderkidz send me God Made You Nose to Toes to review, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing - which will be on January 152017, please comment below to tell me what animal and part of the body you could use to show your grandchildren how God created and loves them . . . I think I'd use the eagle which can see so well and their twinkly blue eyes and warm chocolate brown eyes!

In addition if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email you will receive one entry for each of these which you have done. Plus, if you "share" this post, you'll receive another entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win
God Made You Nose to Toes and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know!

  1. Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of your drawing! Thanks for all you share!

To answer your questions, I'd use a horse with strong legs to gallop and run and their two strong legs to gallop and run too.
