Favorite Features –
1. I love the colorful illustrations . . . and the
fun details to watch for, such as the “croc” wearing the same swim shorts as
the daddy!
2. I enjoyed the story about a boy playing with his
daddy.
3. Encourages imagination, fun and family time
together!
Sterling Children’s Books says; “Celebrate the imagination—and the love between father and
son—with this new board book edition of a fun, rhyming, and totally original
story. On a hot summer's day, a young boy playfully sets out on a “crocodaddy
hunt” in the lake. Following the creature's shadow, dark and wet, he's soon
taking a wild ride on the grinning croc's back. And when they leave the water,
something wonderful happens: Crocodaddy transforms into… just DADDY. Bright,
energetic illustrations (complete with wily crocodile in Dad's swim trunks)
highlight the story's humor and warmth.”
While I did have to tell my youngest grandson Crocodaddy was not really a scary story about a boy in the water with a real crocodile
(and talk about how we would not really get in the water with real crocodiles
or alligators – not that this would be a problem in Michigan!), once he was not
scared by the idea of the story, he really did enjoy it a lot. This book went
straight home! I enjoy stories which encourage family fun and playing together
and this story does both!
I’m
very happy to say, not only did Sterling Children’s Books send me one copy of Crocodaddy for me to review, but they are making another available for me to give away
(USA only)! If you are over the
age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing for Crocodaddy - which will be on
February 14, 2017, please comment below to tell me about an animal which you
would enjoy swimming with . . . for me it would be the unlikely Basset Hound .
. . I say, “unlikely”, because every Basset Hound we have had has hated
swimming . . . even though they are excellent swimmers!
In addition if you have followed on Google
Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find
us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have
followed grandma's cookie jar by email you will receive one entry for each
of these which you have done. Plus, if you "share" this post, you'll
receive another entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be
able to draw names from among people who would like to win Crocodaddy and it gives you
several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar
and for sharing it with the people you know!
I'd love to go swimming with Gracie, our yellow lab. She loves to swim! I don't know why I've never done it. I follow on Facebook, Google +, and by email through my Feedly reader.
