Mandisa - Out of the Dark CD Review & Giveaway on June 1, 2017

I was recently invited it review the new Mandisa CD - Out Of The Dark. I have always enjoyed Mandisa's music - her voice is amazing and her songs are always solid, so I was very happy to participate in this opportunity to review her new CD. When I read the background for Out Of The Dark, I was convinced it is a CD which will be used to impact - and even save - lives.

Out Of The Dark
By - Mandisa

Favorite Features -
  • Solid lyrics which truly touch the deepest parts of your soul.
  • Beautiful vocals - what else would we hear on a CD from Mandisa!
  • Did I mention the amazing lyrics? They are absolutely my favorite part of this CD!
The CD "backstory" - "Mandisa wrote her song “Overcomer” in 2013 to encourage her close friend Kisha, who was battling breast cancer. Mandisa really believed and prayed God was going to heal her, but when Kisha went to be with Jesus in 2014, Mandisa’s foundation was shaken in a way she never expected. She fell into a deep pit of depression for close to three years, shutting out her friends, family and the rest of the world. Mandisa believes if she had kept going down the road she was on, she would not be here today . . . but God
stepped in and lifted her out of the pit by using her close friends to communicate their love for her and God’s love for her. This album is Mandisa’s way of letting her fans into her story – it’s called; Out Of The Dark; because that is exactly where God lifted her out of!" You will be able to watch Mandisa talk about it at this link.

I have friends and family who, like Mandisa, have struggled with - and even continue to struggle with deep depression, so this CD, and the solid messages in the lyrics, is one for which I'm thankful. I asked my daughter-in-law to listen to it and after doing so, she said; "The album is a wellspring of hope and inspiration born out of a journey through the darkness." She is absolutely correct. Look at just a sampling of some of the lyrics on Out Of The Dark . . .
I'm Still Here - "Now I see, There's a reason I survived, There's a story still to write, His grace is working everything, Everything for my good, In a way that, only He could"
Out of the Dark - "Out of the dark, out of the dark, Into the light, You said I'm never too far, never too lost, Never too broken, You sunshine, keep the door wide open, When You called me, Out of the dark, out of the dark, Ou'-ou'-out of the dark, out of the dark, Into the light (into the light), Into the light (into the light)"
Unfinished - "He started something good and I'm gonna believe it, He started something good and He's gonna complete it, So I'll celebrate the truth, His work in me ain't through, I'm just unfinished, I'm just unfinished, So I'll celebrate the truth, His work in me ain't through, I'm just unfinished - I know His history, And the kind of God He is, He might make it a mystery, But He's proving I can trust in Him, And yeah, I believe it
Comeback Kid - "I will stand, Nothing's gonna keep me down, I know You hold my hand, Even when the world around me, Feels like it's giving in, I won't quit, I'm a comeback kid, I know that (hey!), Whatever I'm going through, You've always got my back, So I'm gonna reach for You, You're following (You're following), I won't quit, 'cause I'm a comeback kid, (I won't quit, I'm a comeback kid)"
This is just a sampling of four of the songs on Out Of The Dark - all of them are amazing! While there is no shortage of songs out there which speak to our souls, the songs on Out Of The Dark by Mandisa will impact you and those you love. We all need to be reminded and encouraged by the message in Out Of The Dark.
