Fireflies & Tadpoles

This past weekend my grandsons had a sleepover on Friday night. Before they went to bed, they looked outside and saw hundreds of fireflies . . . much to their absolute delight! The boys spent quite some time just watching the fireflies light up and fly around my yard - it was the most fun watching their reaction!

Then, Saturday morning they found tadpoles . . . their dad and mom helped them catch some which they took home and put in a "tadpole terrarium". They are hoping to watch them grow up into frogs.

We had a lot of fun this past weekend - this grandma's and poppa's house is definitely not boring . . . at least this past weekend! I love summer-time with the boys!

So, what fun "surprises" do you have where you live which you could share with your grandchildren? If you do not live in the country - as I do - what could you show your grandchildren in your yard or neighborhood?

I grew up in a town and remember having kool-aid sales . . . my grandsons would not sell many cups of kool-aid where I live, but if I lived in the city, we might give it a try!

Do you have a park nearby where you could walk and look for nature - birds, tadpoles, fish, frogs, etc.?

What might you do to enjoy your summer with your grandchildren?
