My grandsons were quite excited about camping in my yard - they helped put up the tent and then, their Aunt Tiffany found a baby bunny, which they were able to hold and pet. The camping "trip" was off to a great start!
After supper, they helped build a bonfire where they roasted marshmallows and made smores. Then, it was beginning to get dark and the yard was filled with fireflies . . . which of course they were ready to catch! They had such fun catching them!
After this, they spent time using their telescope - they were able to see craters on the moon and even Jupiter and Saturn!
The boys were still up when their poppa and I went to bed - in the morning Josiah told us they were able to stay up until 12:20am!!! Very exciting!
Shane (three years old) told us his fireflies had "lightbulbs" in them - the reason they were able to "light up"! Josiah tried to tell him about bio-luminescence, but then laughed and said, "He is just three!"
The boys had such a wonderful time - and so did I! Happily, it is likely they will camp again before the summer is over - more fun times and memories are sure to be created.
Sounds like a great time was had by all! Have a happy 4th of July!
