I do know God's Word is the best "antidote" for Satan's lies as we are absolutely able to believe it all of the time, so I want my grandsons to grow up knowing this and believing it as well! There are certainly many things in God's Word which I want my grandsons to believe, but there are three which if they fully believe, they will believe the others as well; these three are . . .
- God loves them! The Bible is filled with verses which tell and show us how much God loves us, but for this truth I certainly turn to John 3:16, 17 -
16 God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world. He sent his Son to save the world through him.
- I also want my grandsons to know before they were born, God knew them, chose them, made them to be the boys they are and planned for their lives to have meaning and a purpose! Look at Jeremiah 1:5 and Jeremiah 29:11-14a
- “Before I formed you in your mother’s body I chose you Before you were born I set you apart to serve me. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”
- 11 I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come. 12 Then you will call out to me. You will come and pray to me. And I will listen to you. 13 When you look for me with all your heart, you will find me. 14 I will be found by you,” announces the Lord.
- And, I want my grandsons to know and believe with all their hearts the truth God will NEVER leave them! Look at Joshua 1:9 and Psalm 73:23-26 -
I know if my grandsons not only know these things, but believe them with all their hearts, they will not be fooled by Satan's lies - which come to us all from many sources.
- "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
- "Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
So, as my grandsons grow up, they will hear these three truths over and over from me, and will be guided to see and read them in their own Bibles as well!
