2017 Christmas Review & Early Giveaway - Yarn!

Typically I begin announcing my Yearly Christmas reviews - and giveaways - throughout the month of October, but this year I have one which I'm announcing today . . . and for which I'm holding the giveaway. It is for yarn! Yes, yarn, because if you - like me - plan to crochet or knit gifts for family members for Christmas, you need to get started now.

Each year I crochet a hat for my grandsons. Last year I crocheted the shark hats and the year before I crocheted a fun three-eyed alien with big noses and spots! Before that I made them one-eyed monster hats, minion hats and Perry the Platypus hats. It is a good thing - a very good thing - my grandsons are not shy as if they were they would never wear the hats I make them . . . pretty much everywhere they go wearing the hats I make them, people stop them and talk to them about their hats!

Hand Me Down Hobby: Mountain Man Beard Hat just a little bigger for me. please. So, this year I'm making another fun hat for them . . . the bearded hat! Their dad has a real beard, so I thought the boys would enjoy having a hat with a beard! I found the pattern on pinterest - at this link.

I contacted Red Heart/Coats yarn and asked to review some of their yarn - they sent me a box full, so today I'm going to write about the yarn they sent and announce a giveaway as well!

Red Heart Evermore is a super bulky yarn from Red Heart available in nine new colors - they sent me Deep Water, Autumn, Marsh and Emerald Isle - all beautiful colors! Red Heart says; "Evermore is a roving style yarn which comes in a gorgeous array of painterly colors. Acrylic blended with a little wool make this yarn an excellent choice for apparel and accessories."

I agree! This yarn is so soft and crochets into a nice soft item. I'm using it for the hat portions of the pattern.

They also sent me Team Spirit Chunky yarn, which they describe as; "Support your favorite sports team with this super bulky soft acrylic. Great for fans of pro, college and university, as well as your local school or rec league team. This yarn has a fun two-color print effect which works up super-fast so you’ll be cheering your team on in no time!"

I have a grandson who loves the color yellow, so I thought this would make a fun hat portion for him.

Then they sent me their loved yarn - Red Heart Soft Yarn - in Toast - yes, for the beards! Red Heart says; "Red Heart Soft is known for its extreme softness and beautiful drape. A special spinning process results in a silky feel to the yarn. A versatile worsted weight yarn, Soft is appropriate for all projects, from hats to throws, accessories to garments, and everything in between."

I want their "beards" to be soft and warm, so what yarn could possibly be better?

I'm happy to say they sent me enough to give away one skein of each color they sent to me! So, if you are over the age of 18 and live in the USA and would like to win this package of yarn, this giveaway is for you!
This giveaway will be on September 13, 2017, please comment below to tell me what you will make if you win this box of yarn - I'm making beard hats!

  4. I don't knit or crochet, so you don't have to enter me in the contest. I just want to tell you how much I love seeing which designs you make for your grandsons every year. They are so adorable, and the hats are such a fun tradition! If this winter is as cold as everyone is saying that it will be, the boys are going to love their "beards!" :-)

I'm almost done with a sweater I'm crocheting,I think I might make an infinity scarf or mittens for my girls or I might try a bearded hat for my son. That sounds fun.
