Howard Wallace, P.I.
Shadow of a Pug - Howard Wallace, P.I
Author - Casey Lyall
Publisher - Sterling Children's Books
Ages - 8-12
Favorite Features -
- Kid PI's with a solid mystery will have young readers turning the pages to get to the end and discover the answers to the mystery.
- Children will be able to connect with the characters and their angst of growing up, getting along with others and finding surprise friends.
- Book 2 especially provides a wonderful opportunity to talk about choosing to help others, even if they are people who are not kind to you.
Sterling Children's Books says; "Howard Wallace lives by his own rules of private investigation and
works with what he’s got: a bathrobe for a trench coat, a makeshift
office, and no friends. So when he lands a hot case of blackmail, he’s
ready to solve it himself . . . until the new kid, Ivy Mason, convinces him
to accept her as a junior partner. As they banter through stakeouts,
Howard begins to wonder if having Ivy beside him is a bad thing
after all." And in Book 2 - "Middle-school detectives Howard Wallace and Ivy Mason are itching
for a juicy case—but when they’re forced to prove über-bully
Carl Dean didn’t pugnap the school mascot, they’re not thrilled. Now
Howard and Ivy have to play nice with Carl, dodge a snoopy reporter,
and deal with Howard’s worst enemy, Miles Fletcher. Can Howard
handle these complications and still be there for Ivy when her life is
turned upside down?"
I'm very happy to have a new series of books for my grandsons to enjoy - and when they address the topics of friendship and helping others - even if they are not kind to you, it is even better! My grandsons will enjoy the Howard Wallace, P.I. books for sure.
I am so happy to say, not only did Sterling Children's Books send me both Howard Wallace, P.I. and Shadow of a Pug - Howard Wallace, P.I for me to review, but they are making them available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing for both Howard Wallace, P.I. and Shadow of a Pug - Howard Wallace, P.I which will be on November 25, 2017, please comment below to share about a series of chapter books you enjoyed as a child . . . for me it has to be the Bobbsey Twins and the Happy Hollisters.
In addition if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email you will receive one entry for each of these which you have done. Plus, if you "share" this post, you'll receive another entry (please let me know if you share).
