The Twelve Days of Christmas in Michigan
Author - Susan Collins Thoms
Illustrator - Deb Pilutti
Publisher - Sterling Children's Books
Ages - 4+
Favorite Features -
- Takes the reader on a fun "trip" around the State of Michigan
- I loved most of the choices of locations for the book - I would not have included the lighthouse, but would have definitely put in Pictured Rocks and/or Tahquamenon Falls.
- Wonderful illustrations
- Fun "take" on the old carol.
Sterling Children's Books says; "On each of the twelve days during her Christmas visit with her cousin Will, Katie writes home describing the history, geography, animals, and interesting sites of Michigan which she has explored. Uses the cumulative pattern of the traditional carol to present amusing state trivia at the end of each letter."
Since I live - and grew up - in Michigan, I found this book to be a fun way to "take a trip" around the "Mitten". These books are also a fun way to learn about the States in our country.
I am so happy to say, not only did Sterling Children's Books send me The Twelve Days of Christmas in Michigan for me to review, but they are making one available for me to give away (USA only). I love books centered around states! I grew up in Michigan, my son was born in Virginia and I've lived in Virginia for 14 years now. My husband grew up in South Carolina and we eventually would like to live there. My first choice would be Virginia, then South Carolina, then Michigan. I follow by email, Facebook and have shared this post.
