It is all too easy for us to worry and be afraid if they are not following God; but trust Him! He loves them! Do your part by praying and being faithful to share how God shows His great love for you.
Consider making this your prayer for your grandchildren - and children - today . . .
Deuteronomy 6:4-15,17-19
Pay
attention to –
-
How am I to love my one God?
-
Do I love God’s Word and His commands?
-
What am I doing to pass on a heritage of faith?
-
What do I especially like about this passage?
-
What do I not like or do not understand?
-
How does this passage help me know God better?
-
What will I do to live this passage today?
Prayer
-
Dear God, please help me love
You with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my
strength. Please
help Your Word to be on my heart and please help me think about You
and Your Word when I sit
at home, when I walk along the road, when I lie down, and when I get
up. Dear God I
want to remember You and all You did, and do, for me! Please help me
remember
when I am living in the
place where I am, You have
put me here; please
help me not forget You! Dear God please help me stay focused, so I do
not allow anything to be more important to me than You. I want to
keep Your Word and do what is right and good in Your sight.
Please help my
grandchildren/children love You with their all. As they grow up,
please give them a deep love for Your Word, so they remember and
think about it wherever they are. Please help them remember You, all
You do for them, and be people who trust You to put
them in the place
where You want them. I pray they will fear You and serve only You;
not this world they
live in. Please help
them stay focused, so they are not deceived or distracted and
nothing is more
important to them than You. Please help them choose to keep Your Word
and do what is right and good in Your sight. Thank You for Your great
love for us; I love You, too! Amen!
Focus
for the Week
–
Make
this your prayer in the coming week, and draw your thoughts to the
following focus . . .
-
Sunday – Dear God, please help me love You with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my strength! Please help my grandchildren/children love You with their all. What do I do in my everyday life which shows I love God with all my heart, soul, and strength? Is there anything in my life which keeps me from loving God with my all? Pray for my grandchildren/children to have hearts which love God with their all.
-
Monday – Please help Your Word to be on my heart and please help me think about You and Your Word all the time! As they grow up, please give my grandchildren /children a deep love for Your Word, so they remember and think about it wherever they are. What is really on my heart? What do I think about? How does it change the way I live for God’s Word to be on my heart and for me to think about it all the time, no matter where I am? How would doing this change the impact I have on my grandchildren/children? Pray for them to have a deep love for God’s Word and to be people who think about and live God’s Word.
-
Tuesday – Dear God I want to remember You and all You did and do for me! Please help my grandchildren /children see and remember, too. What has God done for me? What is God doing for me now? How does it make a difference in regards to the choices I make today if I intentionally remember God and all He does for me? Take time to make a list of at least five things God has done for me - then praise Him for how these things change my life! Pray for my grandchildren/children to be people who remember God and all He does for them. Take time to talk with them about the things God has done; and continues to do for me.
-
Wednesday – Please help me remember when I am living in the place where I am, You have put me here; please help me not forget You! Please help my grandchildren/children remember You and all You do for them and be people who trust You to put them in the place where You want them. Where has God put me? Do I remember God in this place where I am, or do I tend to be distracted by other things? Pray for my grandchildren/children to remember God, what He does for them and to be people who are able to trust God will put them in the place where He wants them; and it will be the best place for them.
-
Thursday – I want to fear You, My LORD, my God and serve only You. Please help my grandchildren /children fear You and serve only You; not this world they live in. What do I do to serve God? What am I doing today to show I serve God alone? What will my life look like if I lived every day knowing God is the only one I serve? Pray for my grandchildren/children to be people who are serious about serving God. Talk with them about how I have served God in the past. Think about how I can help them serve God and then plan a time to do so.
-
Friday – Dear God please help me stay focused, so I do not allow anything to be more important to me than You. Please help my grandchildren/children stay focused, so they are not deceived or distracted, and nothing is more important to them than You. What is really important to me? How does my life show God is most important to me? How will I live differently if God is really most important to me? What would my grandchildren /children say are the most important things in my life? Pray my grandchildren/children will be protected from the evil one, so they are not deceived or distracted and nothing is more important to them than God.
-
Saturday – I want to keep Your Word and do what is right and good in Your sight. Please help my grandchildren /children choose to do the same. What am I doing today to show I want to keep God’s Word? What do I do to show I want to do what is right and good in God’s sight? How does it change my life to choose to keep God’s Word, and do what is right and good in His sight? Pray for my grandchildren/children and ask God to help them be people who choose to keep His Word and do what is right and good in His sight.
