just for fun - Silly Laws - Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado & Connecticut

With January coming to an end and February starting, I thought it might be fun this week to take a moment each day to laugh at some of the silly laws - which are still actual laws - from each state in our country . . . especially since here where I live in West Michigan, it is snowing, getting cold again  . . . and the weather people say it may stay cold through April. If ever we need to laugh, today is the day for sure!

So, today let's start with one silly law from each of the following states - Alabama, Alaska, Arizona and Arkansas . . . get ready to laugh! Each of these laws are still laws . . . some do make sense, others will just leave you scratching your head, wondering why anyone ever thought they had a need for such a law in the first place! (I found the silly laws at this link.)

  • Alabama . . . It is illegal to wear a fake mustache which causes laughter in church.
  • Alaska . . . It is illegal to wake a sleeping bear to take a photo. (And, in my opinion - it is not very smart to do this, either!)
  • Arizona . . . It is illegal for donkeys to sleep in bathtubs.
  • Arkansas . . . It is illegal to mispronounce Arkansas.
  • California . . . A frog which dies during a frog-jumping contest may not legally be eaten.
  • Colorado . . . It is illegal to ride a horse under the influence. (This actually makes sense.)
  • Connecticut . . . A pickle may not legally be considered a pickle unless it bounces.
So, which of these laws did you find to be the funniest? I think the one from Arizona is funny . . . why would they even make a law about donkeys sleeping in bathtubs?!!! (Although the Connecticut law did make me laugh, too!)

Enjoy . . . and share with your grandchildren; I know my grandsons will enjoy hearing these silly laws!
