I do have to say, of all the books I've reviewed in the past year - and there have been many which I liked, a lot - this is my very, most favorite! A Couch for Llama
Author/Illustrator - Leah Gilbert
Publisher - Sterling Children's Books
Ages - 4+
Favorite Features -
- This story is so much fun!
- Illustrations are great - filled with color, detail and , yes, fun!
- Your family will laugh over this story!
- The text provides lots of opportunity to read this story with added "fun" - have the children sneak, jump, ignore, baa a hello, etc . . . this is NOT a boring story!
Sterling Children's Books says; "When a family finds a surprising new home for an old couch, a llama becomes the happiest creature of all. The Lago family really loves their couch. It’s perfect for reading, snuggling, playing, and jumping. But all good things must come to an end, and, one day, the family realizes the time has come to replace it. As they drive home with their brand-new bright-red couch, though, it gets knocked off the top of their car into a field . . . where a llama tries to make sense of this new thing. At first confused—It doesn’t talk! It doesn’t taste good! It doesn’t budge!—the llama soon realizes how comfy the couch is and settles right in. Can the family get its furniture back—and keep llama happy, too? Leah Gilbert has written and illustrated a warm picture book which touches both the heart and the funny bone."
I LOVE A Couch for Llama! If you only buy one book this year for the children you love, make it A Couch for Llama!
Not only is the story great fun - and it absolutely is - and not only are the illustrations even more fun - and they are (check the inside front and back covers as each of the many illustrations of llama and the couch are different!!!) - but reading this story is a blast! This story will have you - and your grandchildren - laughing, and talking about how you are able to share what you have with someone who will be so happy to have it!
Not only did Sterling Children's Books send me one copy of A Couch for Llama for me to review, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only) on February 28, 2018.
