Supplies -
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 cups cold water
- 2 cups boiling water
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- yarn
- plastic wrap
- bowl
- mix flour and cold water
- bring additional 2 cups of water to a boil and stir in flour/water mixture. Bring to a boil again
- remove from heat and add sugar
- allow to cool - will thicken and become the paste for your project
- wrap plastic wrap around the outside of a bowl and dip yarn in your cooled paste
- wrap yarn around bowl
- allow to dry overnight
- carefully remove wrap and yarn from bowl
- peel wrap away from yarn
- enjoy your yarn bowl!
You could add some glitter to the paste before you let it cool as this would add a touch of "sparkle" to the finished project! As you make this craft with your grandchildren, talk with them about their best memories from school this year. Ask them what they are looking forward to during Summer vacation and pray with them - ask God to help them come to know and walk with Him more each day! If they are making the bowl for someone - maybe their teacher??? - talk with them about the person they are making the yarn bowl for and then lead them in praying for the person. (This would also make a wonderful gift for Mother's Day or a gift to brighten the day of someone they know who is ill.)
