Skill Level:
Easy
Materials:
- Transparent plarn cut into 1/8-in strips
- polyester thread of any color
- 16 1.0-cm metal rings
- 1 12-mm lobster lock
- Crochet Hook: Steel Hook No. 7
- Tapestry Needle
- Long Nose Pliers
- Join the plarn and polyester thread to a metal ring. (Follow this link to learn how to make plarn)
- Ch 1, 6 sc in ring.
- (6 sc in the next metal ring) 13x.
- 12 sc around the last metal ring.
- (6 sc in the next metal ring) 14x.
- Sl st to ch-1.
Your FO by now must be twisty, it won't lie flat. To make it do so, iron the bracelet between two pieces of paper until it sticks to the paper. You have to keep checking. Otherwise, the plarn will be melted, the crochet details will be lost in the process and the paper will stick to your bracelet. And it's not easy to remove. Drawing paper seems to work best for me because its thick enough it can distribute heat slowly.
Assembly
Attach the remaining metal rings at one end. On these, attach the lobster lock.
As you work on this project with your grandchildren, talk with them about the people for whom they are making the bracelets and lead them in praying for these people!
